We submitted a formation document to Secretary of State of Alabama for filing on March 2 (actually document must go first to the Probate Court for recording and is then forwarded to the Secretary of State). Why? Still haven't received confirmation of formation from Secretary of State which will be the actual file date (not the recording date) . They don't offer expedited processing. In this age of computers there must be a better way. For instance, Mississippi is immediate and great!!! Why can't Alabama come into the 21st Century?
The business website keeps showing database issues when I attempt to update information, so I decided to call in. I've been waiting for an agent for over an hour now. Not a good experience.

I deal with Secretary of State offices across the country. Alabama's corporation's department is without a doubt the worst. For example, they returned one of my recent certified document requests by U.S. Mail instead of by return FedEx. Inside their U.S. Mail envelope was my pre-addressed return FedEx envelope. Stuck to the outside of my FedEx envelope was a post-it note (with no identifying signature) stating that my return envelope did not properly list the billing party. Clearly, their customer service representative did not read the shipping label to see that it in fact listed the proper billing party.
