They also hate terrible policies for giving out things that aren't medicine. I have a few medical supplies I need to use to monitor my condition at home. They know it, so they give them to me. The problem is, I only need to pickup my medication roughly once a month and it lasts about a month, but the supplies I need to monitor my condition they will only give me a week's supply at a time.
I've been getting my meds from Medical Outreach Ministries, but it is just an immense hassle and ordeal that I would not do it at all if I didn't absolutely have to in order to live. It's a choice between them or death unfortunately so I have to go here.
I used to have a 4 star review of this place, but over time my opinion has changed.
Best medical clinc that I have ever been to. The doctors really care about you and take their time with you. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. These people do what ever they can to take care of your health needs.
Very helpful. They care. That's all I can say.
The registration process is also grueling. 4+ hours, requires documentation that can take weeks to obtain, only 2 days a week and must be done in person so you have to miss work to do it.
When you get accepted here, they only let you continue to go for a year, then they completely cut you off until you re-register. With any reputable organization or service, this wouldn't be a problem, because you get a message on your phone or a letter to your house informing you that your time to reapply is coming up. But they don't do this. They give you absolutely zero warning or reminders until you go to pickup your medication and they say "we aren't giving you any until you re-register".
Now keep in mind, this is not medication or any sort of controlled substance or supplies or anything restricted. They can be bought over the counter anywhere in the country without a prescription. But they will only give me a week's supply at a time. I have begged and pleaded with them and tried to get them to understand that whether they give me 4 weeks of it once a month, they are still giving me the same amount as when they give me once a week for four weeks. It is the exact same quantity either way, but they won't do it. They force me to go drive over there every single week to pickup more supplies.
This is a horrible practice that can get people killed when they have to have the medicine and they just suddenly stop giving it.
Nancy Hogan was excellent help she explained to me quite a lot about how MOM works I'd like to apologize and set the record straight I was misinformed by someone else thus making me panic & feel like my trust was violated but I now know that it wasn't due to receiving incorrect information I was lead to believe that these people didn't have my best interest at heart which I should have known better since they've helped me for almost 2 years & have never once lead me to believe otherwise about them so I should have trusted them and not the other people! I have to say MOM has helped me tremendously with the medications that I cannot afford & I appreciate them for still trying to help me get the appropriate medications my doctor goes out of his way to help find ways for me to be able to get medications I cannot afford without MOM I am not sure where I'd be! I am giving you all 5 stars for your excellent customer services as well as your patient, kindness and understanding thank you Nancy for being patient with me and explaining everything thoroughly with me to make sure I understood and for telling me if I need any help or have any questions in regards to anything to call you, thanks a bunch for helping a confused patient!
I require 2 medications to be able to live and not having them, even for a single day, can result in life-long consequences and negative health impact and possibly require hospitalization. Going more than a single day will definitely require going to the emergency room.
I still have great respect for the DOCTORS who go there because they're doing it in the free time between working or they come out of retirement do help those who need it. My doctor also said their policies of withholding medication and supplies are dangerous, unhealthy, and irresponsible but he has no control over how the staff run their little operation. Thankfully, when I get an appointment to see him, he makes sure I get plenty of medication and supplies to last me a good while, but that only works when I have an appointment to see him, the rest of the time I have to deal with these apathetic staff members.
But they don't care. They still want me going down there every week to pickup supplies, they give no notice when your year is about to be over, and then they cut off your supply of medication knowing with 100% certainty that you will die after they do. It just goes to show the staff and administrators do not care about the people who go there at all.
My immune system is weakened and highly prone to infection so every single visit in that environment with people who are there to be seen for contagious illnesses increases the likelihood that i'll become infected.
If I had ANY choice at all, to go ANYWHERE else, I would go to the other place because these people have no souls. They're no different than politicians that claim to be good Christians for show, but have absolutely no Christian values or ethics at all. I'm guessing whoever runs this place does so as part of a tax dodge so they can cheat the IRS, because they certainly don't do it out of compassion.
