The curry chicken and the jerk chicken were out of this world.
Hidden gem downtown. Staff is always so friendly and food is great.
I was visiting Montgomery for a couple days and found this place at the last minute for lunch. It's good traditional Jamaican (I think). I just got a jerk chicken sandwich and it was pretty good, and they put a lot of chicken on it, which made me feel like it was a good value. The woman who helped me was very polite and the food didn't take long. Overall I was happy.
I ordered egusi soup and opted for the fufu (pounded yams). It was disgusting it was a watery consistency and wasn’t authentic. I love African food having Nigerian cousins I’m know how it’s suppose to taste and Ive done a better job with a YouTube tutorial. Will never go there again the only positive things I can say is that the restaurant was clean and the wait time wasn’t bad but overall I’m very disappointed !
Not to mention the beef and chicken patties. Everything was done with excellence and passion. Great customer service!
Very friendly young lady at counter who asked if this was my first visit then explained menu options. Very clean restaurant, nice atmosphere with Bob Marley and other Reggae music videos playing on mounted TV. Food came much faster than expected, but server had to return twice with forgotten items (meat patty and ice water) . Yellow rice was more like red rice but hot, spicy, and tasty. Stewed spinach & turnip green combo was fresh, hot, delicious. Stewed oxtails unfortunately were a mixture of room temperature and downright cold. If anyone had come by table to ask how my food was or if I needed something I would have let them know about the oxtails so they could have been further heated, but no one did. I even tried to waive a staff member over to me via the open kitchen, but to no avail. I would have much rather my food taken longer to be brought to my table so that the oxtails would have been heated through. I would have been content to nibble on my beef patty til the rest of my food arrived. All in all though, I will definitely be giving this cafe another chance.
