Joe has the worst customer service I've ever seen. He was very rude and unhelpful and said he was too busy to help me. We usually spend a very large amount of money on gifts for staff members but I will make sure that we do not spend a dime at Furlongs in the future. Whoever owns this store should really replace him with someone that isn't useless.
I experienced great customer service from Joe. I had a last minute order that I needed done within a few days and was told they could have it done within a week. This was a reasonable time frame as it was a busy time of year, so I was fine with the week delay. Joe knew I needed the gift soon as possible and went above and beyond to make me feel like a priority. He called within just a couple of hours letting me know my order was completed! I was very pleased as the quality of work was as good as the service I received. I’ll definitely be back!
My wife broke her 18 inch silver necklace. We took it to Furlongs to be repaired. They called and said they could not fix the necklace. When we picked the necklace up, it was two inches shorter than when it was taken to the store. It looks like they used some heating process to try to weld or solder the necklace back together. Needless to say, they took a repairable necklace and destroyed it.
I give this business a 1 star - I purchased a vase stand ( black wood with an engraved plate) for a special retirement gift. Once I got the stand home to look at it, two of the corners (opposite corners) were cracked and the black laminate had fallen off. I called Joe immediately, and was told to bring it back in. Once I brought it in to him, he insulted my intelligence saying that I had dropped it because it was not that way when he installed the engraved plate. Many times I insured him that I had not! I had only taken it from the car seat and brought it into the house. His insistence that I dropped it was his way of saying that I lied. I did not lie. I did not drop the stand (I would have had to drop it twice, because the corners were opposite ones!). Because it was for a gift and this would be looked at by many people, I had no other recourse but to purchase another one at the cost of $50. He goes to the back and conveniently says that he does not have another one, so he grabs a black magic marker and proceeds to cover the flacked off spaces on the base. I cannot believe that this company does not stand by their inferior products. I am a very unhappy customer. I will never go back and I am sorry because I like to support the small business owners but not when they take advantage of their customers. Joe, you have my phone number on the order form if you ever feel like correcting this situation. If you do, I will be more than happy to update this review to reflect your desire to right his wrong.
I recently had a gun and watch engraved, Joe and Nick were so helpful, offering good ideas and helping make the process so much easier. The quality of the work done was above average and the cost was reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone with specialty items that you want engraved and they have a store full of great gift ideas.
